There was a time when events were promoted with flyers in the mailbox and press releases. Then came email. Today, the guest list is built on social media. It reaches existing and potential guests wherever they are: on the sofa at home, or on their phone, on a boat on the way to Formentera.
Why Social Media Works for Events
- Guests see it where they already are. An invitation does not get lost in a mailbox, and it is easy to share with friends via Stories, messages and WhatsApp.
- You see interest early. Responses such as “Interested” and “Going” show how many people care, and let you reach those people again.
- You reach the right people. Location, language and interests help you tell tourists, residents and international guests apart.
- It is measurable. You see who reacts and what each response costs.
- It is fast and cost-effective. No printing, no distribution, and content can be produced quickly.
What Works Today
- Video first. Short videos and Reels that show the atmosphere, location and people reach many more people than static posts, including people who do not follow you yet.
- One event page as the hub. Put all details in one place: date, location, programme and ticket or booking link. Every post and story points back to it. Make the event public so guests can share it and invite friends.
- Partners and collaborations. DJs, artists, venues and brands share the event with their own audiences. Instagram collab posts make this simple.
- Local communities. Facebook groups and WhatsApp communities reach local audiences at no cost.
- Several languages. On Ibiza, guests speak many languages. Promoting the event in English, German, Spanish and more makes people feel invited.
- Photos of past events. Real pictures from previous editions build excitement for the next one.
Paid Promotion: Let the AI Work, but Feed It Well
To reach more people than your own followers, event ads on Facebook and Instagram are the most effective tool. Meta’s AI now handles much of the targeting and placement, and broad audiences combined with strong creative usually perform better than narrow demographic targeting. That makes the creative the deciding factor: a good video or image matters more than any targeting setting. It also pays to reach again the people who already reacted to your event or your page, as they are the most likely to attend.
Where AI Helps, and Where It Does Not
AI can help with variations of ad copy, formats and translations, and it speeds up editing. Meta’s own AI optimises delivery. What AI cannot replace is the substance: real images of your venue, real atmosphere and an honest story. Guests recognise generic content immediately, and an event lives from the feeling that it is worth being there.
How INMEDIA Helps
We build your event campaign from start to finish: the event page, visuals and video content, organic and paid promotion in several languages, and the measurement of results. We connect all your channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and more) to promote your event across platforms. See how we work in our projects.
Events are social by nature. On an island where something is always going on, the event that gets seen is the event that gets attended. Do not miss the chance to attract attention and increase attendance.
